Understanding scan statistics

What we count when someone scans, and what we don't.

Each time someone scans a dynamic code (or clicks a short link) we record the time, the country (from the network, not GPS), the device type, operating system, browser and language.

Open a code in the dashboard to see scans per day, top countries, devices and more. The Overview page shows totals for the last 30 days compared with the 30 days before.

Why numbers can differ from other tools

• We don't count link-preview bots, search crawlers and monitoring tools.
• To keep stats honest, many scans in a minute from the same network count only up to a limit.
• Some phones open a preview first and then the page: we count the visit once it reaches us.

Privacy

We don't store IP addresses, set cookies or identify the person who scans. Scan records are kept for 13 months. Deleting a code deletes its scan records.
