Put your QR code on a photo
Use a product shot, a venue photo or your artwork as the background. A light backing behind the modules keeps it readable, and we test-scan the result.
Three ways to back the code
Behind each module
A soft light square sits behind every module, so the photo shows through between them. Looks the most like a picture.
Solid panel
One light panel behind the whole code, with the photo around it. The easiest to scan.
None
The code goes straight on the photo. Only for very light, plain pictures; we tell you if it fails.
Make an image QR code
Pick your content
A link, a menu, a review page or any other type. Dynamic codes work too.
Upload a picture
JPG, PNG or WebP up to 8 MB in the Image tab. It's never uploaded to us.
Adjust and check
Choose the backing and its strength. When the badge says Verified, download it.
Which one should I use?
Use an image QR code when you already have the picture: your product, your shop front, your band. The photo stays exactly as it is, with the code on top.
Use AI art when you want the code to be part of the picture itself. The model paints a new image around your code's pattern.
Questions people ask
Image QR codes
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The picture stays in your browser and is drawn into the code there. For Pro vector files, only the design settings go to our server; the photo is added in your browser.
Why does it need a backing?
Phones read a code by the contrast between dark and light modules. A photo puts both everywhere; the backing restores the light parts so the code reads.
What pictures work best?
Photos with a calm area where the code sits, not too dark. Busy, high-contrast patterns behind the code make it harder to scan.
Can I still add a logo and a frame?
Yes. Logos, frames and captions work with a background picture.
Which file types can I download?
PNG, JPG and WebP are free. SVG, PDF and EPS are part of Pro.
