What is a Codabar barcode?
Codabar is a simple barcode for digits and the symbols - $ : / . +. It starts and ends with one of the letters A, B, C or D, which some systems use to tell kinds of item apart. It's also known as NW-7, Code 2 of 7 and USD-4.
Because it tolerates rough printing, it was popular for dot-matrix and inkjet labels. Today you mostly need it to match an existing system.
Where it's used
- Library books and membership cards
