Add a logo and colors without breaking the scan

Design rules that keep a branded code readable.

QR codes have built-in error correction. When you add a logo we raise it to the highest level, so up to about 30% of the code can be covered and it still reads.

  • Contrast: keep the pattern dark on a light background. Light patterns on dark backgrounds don't work on every phone.
  • Logo size: keep it under about a third of the code's width.
  • Quiet zone: leave a clear margin around the code, at least four modules wide.
  • Corners: the three big squares help phones find the code. Style them, but keep them clearly visible.

Watch the check under the preview. If it says the code can't be read, make the logo smaller, raise the contrast or remove effects until it shows Verified again.
